Cumming Street Department

The Cumming Streets Department works in beautifying the City, its roads and streets, and the exteriors of all City facilities. Streets Department employees take part in a variety of tasks every week, including landscaping activities such as mowing, weed-eating, and planting. They also handle some minor road projects such as resurfacing and filling of potholes, and ensure street signs are properly placed and maintained.

They also make weekly pick-ups of yard debris from residents who live within the Cumming City Limits. Each year, Streets Department employees pick up and haul away more than 500 tons of residents’ yard debris, and mow grass on approximately 36 miles of street right-of-way two times every week. During winter months, they also help clear ice- and snow-covered roadways and put out deicing products on sidewalks and in parking lots of City buildings to ensure the safety of City customers and employees.
